Titan Missile Silo

One of the most interesting tourist attractions around Tucson has to be the Titan Missile Silo, located down I-19 off of Duval Mine Road. This unique tour takes you back in time to an era when the Cold War loomed over the United States and this facility was just one of the many strategic rockets spread around the country. Armed with a nuclear warhead at the top of its Titan Missile body, this projectile designed for such massive destruction is an eerie reminder of the Cold War strategy of mutually assured destruction. The tour itself takes you through the control room of the silo and a simulated launch scenario. You’ll get a close-up look at the Titan Missile Silo itself and if this historical exhibit truly sounds interesting then be sure to check out the twice monthly “Beyond the Blastdoor” tour which provides an even closer peek of this facility. The museum has added other very interesting tours as well each with their own special look at different facets of the facility.
