James D. Kriegh Park Pool Expansion Grand Opening

The time has nearly come to celebrate the completion of the aquatic center expansion at the James D. Kriegh Park in Oro Valley. The Oro Valley Town Council approved a total of $5 million in capital improvements to transform the municipal pool at James D. Kriegh Park into one of Southern Arizona’s premier, competition-level facilities. The new aquatic center will also include a splash pad for children and other family-friendly amenities.

To celebrate the completion of this exceptional facility the Town is holding a grand opening Friday, March 15th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm. As the only municipal pool in Oro Valley this is welcome news to area residents in that they can once again enjoy the facilities and at a level never before available. In addition to the recreational aspects of this facility, the town has also built a world class Olympic sized training pool that is already gaining the attention of swimmers worldwide. This pool will host top tier competitive swimming and diving competitions which will create substantial tourism dollars for our local economy. In fact, the facility has already been selected to host the 2014 U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships in April over a five-day period. Below are some details on the improvements directly from the Town of Oro Valley’s website:
